Another week down! Time to relax have fun and check out some epic horror movies. This time I wanted to show Amazon some love because my house is pretty much an Amazon house. We have Echoes, Fire Sticks, Prime, and well I don't know if you know this but I do write some awesome books on Amazon (Here's my self-plug link...wink wink Planet Dead) So why not take a break from Netflix for a weekend and see what Prime video has to offer? Here is my list of four epic picks, now streaming on Amazon!
Frozen is a movie starring Shawn Ashmore, Emma Bell, and Kevin Zegers. Three skiers stranded on a chairlift are forced to make life-or-death choices, which prove more perilous than staying put and freezing to death.
Director: Adam Green
Writer: Adam Green
Stars: Shawn Ashmore, Emma Bell, Kevin Zegers
My Thoughts: Let it go! Let it go! Can't hold it back anymore! okay, I'm done...Frozen is on a pretty short list of random horror movies (With a Twist) that I enjoy along with, ATM, Stall, and Better Watch Out. I found it on Netflix a few years ago but now Amazon has pulled it out of the deep dark closet of streaming for its Prime Members. Let's get this out of the way, yes it's a movie about people stuck on a ski lift, that is the main concept and the overall plot of the movie, no flashbacks, no side plots, just three people on a lift, freezing to death. It's one of those internal fear movies with cringe-worthy scenes. I think my favorite might be seeing them trying to get across by using the razor-sharp lift cable. It's not for everyone like I've been told time and time before, but I like it and if you're into "47 Meters Down" or "Back Country", then I think you'll enjoy this one as well. 3.5/5 is what I'm rating this one.
A psychological thriller about a man who bumps into an old crush and subsequently becomes obsessed with her, leading him to hold her captive underneath the animal shelter where he works. But what will the victim have in store for her captor?
Director: Carles Torrens
Writer: Jeremy Slater
Stars: Dominic Monaghan, Ksenia Solo, Jennette McCurdy
My Thoughts: This movie was a trip, one moment you think you're dealing with some crazed stalker fanboy and then they turn the table, flip it and set that shit on fire. It may not be my favorite movie on this list, but I really enjoyed the different spin they took on the stalker genre. I don't really like rating things, but if I had to, it would be 3.5/5 If you like Hardcandy this is a good watch for you.
An art student taps into a rich source of creative inspiration after the accidental slaughter of her rapist. An unlikely vigilante emerges, set out to avenge college girls whose attackers walked free.
Director: Natalia Leite
Writer: Leah McKendrick
Stars: Francesca Eastwood, Clifton Collins Jr., Leah McKendrick
My Thoughts: One, I did not know Clint Eastwood had a daughter, so I am late on the awesome train that is Francesca Eastwood, she killed this role. I'm not a fan of the rape scenes (Which is a reason I stopped watching the "I Spit On Your Grave" series) they're uncomfortable to watch, but that's the point, no one should be enjoying things like that. This movie took a hard look at how society treats rape victims, it was reality wrapped in a thin blanket of fiction. You saw three different cases where the rapist got a slap on the wrist or was overlooked for their crimes, while the victims were made to feel worse for coming forward and had to live in a world that was forever changed. Watching this after finishing 13 Reasons Way season 2 has built a large amount of hate for my own sex. Some men are animals but what hurts more in my eyes are all the people that let these animals run wild and continue to hurt people. I love this movie, it came out of nowhere and slapped me in the face. Unlike 13 Reasons Why that left a bad taste in my mouth, I got to cheer on the sweet sweet murders of some shitty ass people. I'm gonna give this a 5/5 because I feel like everyone needs to see this movie, they should be showing it at every college campus.
Even Lambs Have Teeth (2015):
Two young women terrorized by a group of small town psychos seek revenge on their tormentors.
Director: Terry Miles
Writer: Terry Miles
Stars: Kirsten Zien, Tiera Skovbye, Darren Mann
My Thoughts: This movie was epic! That weak IMDB summary doesn't do it justice. This is what it's about, two girls have plans of working on some farm (hippie stuff) for the summer and see NYC. One girl's uncle is an FBI agent and he drops them off at the bus stop so they can go to the farm. They decided to take a ride from two cute farm boys and BAM! Drugged and forced into a sex trafficking ring. This movie doesn't show the rapes at all, they just hint at it, which I'm very thankful for, anyway FBI uncle comes looking for them, but the girls have already got away and are ready to bring hell down on their kidnappers. The song "He had it coming" from Chicago should have been playing throughout this whole movie, because every last guy had it coming and I love how they went about with their kills (as I'm thinking about it, I think one of the girls is from that Disney channel show with the baby sister, and she's always making tapes for her...if it is her, she killed this role) There was a tennis ball full of nails and I may or may not be using that in a book or real life should the zombie outbreak happens This movie gets a 4.5/5 it was great, but after the killing started you kind of knew where it was all going so that's the only reason I'm not gonna say 5 out of 5.
