OverKill’s TWD Is D.O.A

Skybound Kills Off ”Overkill’s The Walking Dead” Game after poor fan reaction and lackluster gameplay.

“We are exceedingly sorry to our fans and share their disappointment in the game. We remain dedicated to providing our fans with the most premium quality content we can offer, and will continue to look for alternative video game options for the IP.”

I was pumped for this game when I saw the first clip of it. There was a black guy with a baseball bat and he meant business and then the next trailer had a woman leave her attacker to die. I was so ready! But those were cut scenes, pretty little videos you sit through as you progress through a games story...think of it like high-end makeup on a pig, it might look pretty but in the end, it's still nasty. Yeah, yeah that wasn’t my best one but you get what I mean.

Have any of you guys played the game? I think the only TWD games I like are the tell tale ones, the mobile ones are cool but I never get pulled in enough to return everyday like I did with Tell Tale. Anyway, here is a review from Variety about the game.

“The story is an excuse to put players on missions, but who cares about the mission if you don’t care about your camp? The goal of the level is to bring back supplies and loot that upgrade your character, but why bother upgrading your character if it doesn’t make the game more exciting? The best loot-driven games rely on a great progression to spur you on, to get you so excited that you don’t mind replaying the same old levels. ‘Overkill’s The Walking Dead’ seems to expect that, once you’ve started playing and leveling up a character, you simply won’t be able to stop. There are plenty of games, even time sinks, that will treat you better.”
